I was born and raised in Washington, DC and moved to Maryland when I was fifteen. I graduated from Northwestern High School in Prince George’s County in 1960 and joined the Army. I did an 18-month tour in Germany and then served in the reserves for 4 years. I joined the Maryland State Police in 1965 and retired in 1989. That was truly my “dream” job and I enjoyed almost every day I worked.
I married my first wife, Grayce, in 1963 and I have 2 sons and 3 grandchildren. Grayce died in 1992 after a long battle with lymphoma.
After I retired from the State Police I did wedding photography for 13 years.
Even though being raised by a Christian mother and in a church-going family I really did not have a grasp of who God was or that He loved me. At a very low time in my life I called out to God for help with my addiction to alcohol and God cured me and I have been sober for 35 years.
My wife Pam and I have been married for 23 years and together we have 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. We lived in Anne Arundel County but enjoyed coming to the Ocean and renting a home each summer where all of “our” children and grandchildren could come and stay with us. When it was time for Pam to retire, we moved to Ocean Pines, where we live currently. We joined an Evangelical Church shortly after moving to the shore and we were both baptized there in 2008.
In 2010 we began attending SonRise Church where I came to know Jesus in a very personal relationship. Since that time I have grown in my trust and faith in Jesus and He has put a burden on my heart to lead others to Christ. I have found another “dream job”, working for SonRise Church.
